Original artwork by Sean Danconia, created for CRAZY 4 CULT Art Show, held at GALLERY 1988 Los Angeles, California.
“O-Ren Ishii | Kill Bill Prequel 2.9” imagines a Tarantino x Danconia slashtacular—a secondary origin story of O-Ren Ishii (Lucy Liu), with references to Yakuza greats Fuji Junko (and her Kimono), Kaji Meiko , Takakura Ken plus an aesthetic nod to the Lady Snowblood manga artist Kazuo Kamimura (and Maetel’s hands courtesy of Matsumoto Leiji).
The artwork features characters from the KILL BILL universe like Sofie Fatale, GoGo Yubari and Bill himself—all taking place in a traditional Japanese gaming house featuring Yakuza paraphernalia (hanafuda, etc.), much of which was created by Nintendo in the late 1800’s.
